rebranding Assassin Creed; Brotherhood

for ross's assignment im going to rebrand ACB to make it looked more action packed and exicting so that it appeals more to its target audience

i completed it got everything working except one glitch where if you go onto the photo gallery page and returned to the homepage it duplicated the mouse i tried fixing but so far no success.

another problem ive encountered is when i put my project onto the disc, the trailer wasnt working, i tried re-converting the video in flash and reburning the C-D but the trailer still fails :(.

reasons why pokemon is so sucessful

1. it has a friendly feel to it
2. it can be addictive espically with the challange posed by its slogan 'gotta catch 'em a'
3. the pokemon games are on hand held based consoles so can be taken and played anywhere.
4. it appeals to girls because the pokemon are cute and friendly.
5. it appeals to boys as alot of pokemon look big, strong and evil looking.
6. the cartoon series is written to always end on a cliff hanger so people want to see the next episode.
7. the trading card game have made it even more popular
8. the spin off products such as lunchboxes and pokemon dolls have enlargend and furthered the franchiese sucess.

market research draft

Market Research
Before companies release any products they perform market research to get feedback from their target audiences there are many different types of market research each costing different amounts and being more or less reliable as valid research.
Market research is carried out in many forms such as surveys, with which you can ask your target audience straight forward questions you can get good feedback on your product. However getting people to respond to surveys has been increasingly difficult for companies over the years with roughly only 3-15 % responding to mail surveys and 50-60 % to telephone surveys although 1 to 1 interviews in places where your target audience is mostly like to be yield a 90% return rate, however it can cost up to £70 to the company per an interview. Online interviews are relatively cheap and responses from them come through quite often for companies.
Another technique used is focus groups where a moderator has a scripted set of questions to get discussion going in the group to see what they like and dislike about the product or packaging as well as ways to improve on the product.
Companies sometimes hold personal interviews which are similar to focus groups and include unstructured, open end questions.
Field trials are also a good way for companies, by placing the product in one store and observing how it sells can give them insight into what to improve on or if prices need adjusting.

or when yorkie bars rebranded themselves back in 2001 with their classic slogan 'its not for girls' which caused sales by men AND women to increase dramatically

julian website assignment

a couple of weeks ago julian assigned us to create a promotional website for a film of our choice i chose to do 300 because i had watched it the day before he assigned us with this task and therefore had it fresh in my head.

so far ive created a unique background and imported it into flash from photoshop along with unique buttons and edited text.

ive also imported a video from youtube onto the site aswell ash writing up a review and a movie plot im now working on making a unique cusor and a bit more animation in the background, aswell as adding a picture gallery.

past few weeks work

over the last couple of weeks we have been working on a project for ross which was to create an event for something, we chose an eminem gig at the O2 arena, we had to design a map layout for the venue, design a logo and some merchantdise.

we also had to write up a production file and a schedule of event whilst creating a web banner and a twitter account.
after this we each wrote up our own indivudal evaluation.

evaluation for ross

our groups original idea for a project was a music event we then respectively we choose to represent the musical legend and detroit born rapper marshall mathers or also known by his stage name as 'eminem' the reason being for this was because me and kyle both like eminem and decided it would be a good idea to do an event on a subject we would be enthustiastic about.

the second hurdle in the project was deciding upon a venue for the event our choice was split between hammersmith and the O2 arena to decide which to go for we looked at the figures and tried to get a rough estimation of how much it would cost to run a gig at each one along with size of the venue and estimated profits. finally we choose to go with the O2 arena because we looked at eminems latest album sales and found it was the best sellling album of 2010 so the larger venue seemed the obvious choice.
next we worked on a logo that was designed in adobe illustrator and was loosely based on the logo for eminem's latest album 'recovery' because our tours line up was mostly songs from that album, the logo is round with black fading into grey with 'EMINEM' written across it and a ross cross in its center giving a professional finish to help tie it back to 'recovery'.
once we had the logo i decided that we should have some 'merchantdise' to sell at our event so i used to logo to create an offical gig  poster with the red recovery cross in the background and our logo in front to give a classical yet effective look.
other merchendise we designed were T-shirts hoodies and tour album which would be sold at competitive price due to the fact that the album is likely to increase in value over the years, during the intermission drinks will be sold at the bar although anyone deemed to be drunk or not in control of themselves will not be allowed back into the venue.

after this we had to give a speech to the class where i was the one giving a bit of background info as well as taking the questions at the end, which i say i handled bloody well. our speech was mainly about why we chose to do an eminem event whilst giving numbers on previous album sales and what songs we had lined up whereas the questions people asked were based mostly on eminem's career such as 'why is the second E in eminem backwards?' which we answered as best we could.
next kyle began working on the web banner which is coming along swimmingly and looking all the better by the second, the group has spoken about linking the web banner up to the twitter account and all agreed that this would be a benefical move by our group so we've now put in a hyperlink to open up a url on our projects twitter page.
although i dont have a twitter page or ever even wanted one this project requested that our product have a twitter page so for the first time in my life i went onto twitter and the group and i set up a twitter page all about our event, although i dont know if we have any followers we are following eminem and rihanna at the moment.

originally it was just me and kyle working at our best on this project but just before alex and his partner was meant to give their presentation to the class his partner stoped attending classes and is presumed to have left  the course so with yard without a partner we let him join our group and he has mostly been over seeing the twitter aspect of the project along with supporting me and kyle on the presentsation and giving feedback on our work so far to help suggest things that could be changed in the work to improve it.

due to the fact that recovery has many guest apperances we decided it would be a good idea to expand our gig from just eminem to have his guest stars apear with on tour so lil wayne so that 'no love' can be performed aswell as rihanna to perform 'love the way you lie' aswell as this we added 'love the way you lie part 2' to our line up seeing as both stars perform in the song. skylar grey and Dr. Dre will be there so that his single from his up coming album 'i need a doctor' which features eminem can be performed. due to added dr. Dre we realised we could increase the vareity in the merchantdiese by selling dr. dres album at the tour as well, entitled 'Detox'.

overall from looking at start to near finish where we our now i'd say that we have been very sucessful in this project covering all topics and basis set up and have improved all fields, we believe our event was a fantastic idea and the line up for the event is written professionally and appropatiley based on personal knowledge of eminem and chosen merchandise for the event has been carefully selected to only sell things genuine eminem fans would want. also anything we've designed has been pre looked at eminems logos and cover albums to make sure that our work fits in with eminem's style to give it a more realistic work.
at the moment we are finishing off our web banner and updating the twitter account whilst also reviewing early work to look at and upgrade.
